- Parents are notified automatically when a student is absentIn ClassTablet, as soon as a teacher saves attendance for a class, the parents linked to each absent student get an automatic alert in their ClassTablet inbox, as a push notification and by email. Nobody in the office has to phone anyone, and parents can switch these alerts off in their own notification settings.
- Parents get an inbox notice when a student is lateIn ClassTablet, when a teacher marks a student late and confirms attendance, the linked parents automatically get a notice in their ClassTablet inbox. Unlike an absence, it is not sent as a push alert or email; it waits in the inbox for the parent to read. Parents can also switch attendance alerts off.
- Tuition fee reminders for parents, without the office phoningAt 9am Dhaka time on the 15th of each month, ClassTablet checks the current month's bills. For every student whose fee is still unpaid, or whose submitted payment was rejected, the linked parents get a reminder in their inbox and by email, with the class, the month and the amount. The student gets their own reminder too.
- Overdue fee alerts that reach the family once the month is outAt 9am Dhaka time on the 5th of each month, ClassTablet checks the previous month's bills. For every fee still unpaid, or whose payment was rejected, the student gets an 'overdue' notice in the app and by push, and the linked parents get the same news in their inbox and by email, with the amount. It goes once per bill.
- Open a parent account and link your child in two minutesIn ClassTablet a parent's account is created as soon as they choose Parent when signing up. They then link their child by typing the email or phone number on the child's ClassTablet account. Once linked, their home page shows the child's classes, upcoming work, recent results and attendance.
- Linking a child can wait until laterPicking parent on the role step sets the account's role and creates the parent record for them. A step for linking a child follows, which can be done there and then or left for later. A final step marks the whole setup complete.
- The code arrives as a text messageOnce your identity is matched, a six digit code is texted to the phone number your institution holds for you. The code lasts five minutes. Codes cannot be requested one after another; a short wait sits between them. Part of the number is shown back so you can see where it went.
- Are you signing in to the right institutionSigning in starts by choosing your institution. You can search on part of the name, or give the EIIN number to land on exactly the right one. Only institutions that have turned on this way of signing in appear in the results.
- Your roll number is your identityAfter choosing the institution you give the ID it holds for you. Capital letters make no difference, but your membership of that institution has to be active. On a match, part of your phone number is shown so you can see where the code is about to go.
- Post it once and the class knowsWhen an announcement is posted to a classroom, the students enrolled in that classroom are notified. The notice carries the announcement title, the opening of the body text and how many files came with it, and it leads straight to that announcement in the classroom.
- One list instead of four placesFour kinds of thing arrive in the inbox together, and the list can be narrowed by kind, by whether it has been read, by whether it is pinned and by priority. It can be searched too, and both the unread count and a real total come back with it.
- The bill went up, and nobody sat on itRaising the month's bills runs on its own, and a separate notice is raised for the students of every classroom that was actually billed. Each notice is counted against its classroom and month, so the same month never notifies twice.
