When an announcement is posted to a classroom, the students enrolled in that classroom are notified. The notice carries the announcement title, the opening of the body text and how many files came with it, and it leads straight to that announcement in the classroom.
How it is done today
An announcement that sits only on the classroom page is invisible to any student who did not open the page that day, and they hear about it in class the next morning, after the work was already due.

Post the announcement
Write the announcement in the classroom's announcements area. Nobody has to be told about it separately.

The notice goes by itself
As soon as the announcement is created, a notice is sent for the students enrolled in that classroom.

The student is told
It arrives in the notification centre inside the app, and by browser push where that has been switched on.

The notice leads to the post
Following the notice opens that classroom's page and lands on the announcement itself rather than the top.

As soon as the announcement is created the system resolves the students enrolled in that classroom and raises a notice for each of them. Nobody presses send.
What you control
What the notice says comes entirely from what you wrote: the title and the opening of the body. No announcement means no notice, and a student can switch these off in their own settings.

Frequently asked questions
Are parents told as well?
No. The notice goes to the students enrolled in that classroom, and parents are not on the list for it.
Can a student switch this off?
Yes. This notice is marked as suppressible, so switching a route off in their own settings stops it there.
Does the whole announcement travel with it?
No. Only the opening of the body text goes with it, and reading the rest means opening the classroom page.
