Parents get an inbox notice when a student is late
In ClassTablet, when a teacher marks a student late and confirms attendance, the linked parents automatically get a notice in their ClassTablet inbox. Unlike an absence, it is not sent as a push alert or email; it waits in the inbox for the parent to read. Parents can also switch attendance alerts off.
How it is done today
Parents of a student who is late every day usually find out at a parents' meeting, when the teacher mentions it in passing. By then months have gone by. Phoning about every late arrival annoys parents and eats the teacher's time. Lateness is small on its own, but it adds up to a student falling behind.
How it works
- 1
The teacher marks late
While taking attendance the teacher marks the student Late and taps Confirm Attendance. There is no separate message to write.
- 2
It lands in the parent's inbox
As soon as attendance is confirmed, every parent linked to the student is told in their ClassTablet inbox which class their child was late for.
- 3
Low key on purpose
A late notice is normal priority: no push alert, no email. Absence alerts are different; they are high priority and also go by push and email.
- 4
Parents decide
Parents can turn attendance alerts on or off in their notification settings. While off, neither late nor absence notices reach them.
What runs on its own, what stays in your hands
What happens automatically
Once attendance is confirmed, ClassTablet finds the parents of every student marked late and leaves the notice in their inbox on its own. Nobody presses send.
What you control
The teacher's attendance decides who was late. Changing late to present afterwards sends nothing new, and parents can switch these notices off.

Frequently asked questions
Do late notices go by SMS?
No. Late notices go only to the parent's ClassTablet inbox. We don't claim SMS, push or email for late arrivals.
How is a late notice different from an absence alert?
An absence alert is high priority, so it also goes out as a push notification and an email. A late notice is normal priority and stays in the inbox.
What if the teacher marks a student late by mistake?
The teacher can open the record and change the status. The notice already in the inbox is not withdrawn, and no new message is sent for the correction.
Which plans include late notices?
Parents need an account, so late notices work on the Standard and Custom plans, which include the parent portal. Standard costs ৳20 per student per month.
