From the institution to the account
Students, teachers and parents start by finding their institution, then prove who they are with the ID that institution gave them. A code sent to their phone confirms it, and a password is set the first time. A final step collects whatever their role needs.
The pages below take signing in one step at a time: finding the institution, matching the ID, confirming the code, setting a password and finishing the setup for your role.
Features in this area
- Find out the code is wrong before the last step
Type the code sent to your phone and find out whether it is right before you reach the password step. Checking it here does not use the code up.
- Set the password and you are already in
Use the code sent to your phone to set a password for the first time. When it is saved you are taken straight in, with no second sign-in to do.
- Linking a child can wait until later
Choosing the parent role creates the parent record. Linking a child is offered at that point, but it can be left for later without holding up setup.
- The code arrives as a text message
A six digit code is texted to the phone number your institution holds for you. No app to install and no internet connection needed to receive it.
- Are you signing in to the right institution
Search for your school, college or coaching centre by name or by its EIIN number, and then start signing in from the institution that you picked out.
- After the first time, no code to wait for
Once a password has been set, signing in takes the institution, your ID and that password, with no code to wait for on your phone every time.
- A few last fields and then class
A student finishes setup with a few details of their own: gender, date of birth and the class they are in now. The account is fully live after that.
- Two steps to start teaching
Choosing the teacher role creates the teacher record on the spot. Connecting Google is offered next and can be skipped without holding up setup.
- Your roll number is your identity
You are identified by the ID your institution already gave you, a roll number or a staff ID, rather than by a separate username you have to remember.
Frequently asked questions
Can somebody sign in without an email address?
Yes. Identity is matched on the ID the institution gave them and the confirmation code goes to a phone, so the whole path works without an email.
Do all institutions appear in the search?
No. Only institutions that have turned on this way of signing in are listed in the results.
What if I already have a password?
Then you sign in with it. The step that matches your ID also reports whether a password is already set on the account.
