Look up a student by phone number
In the add-student window, typing a mobile number brings back that student from your own institution with their name, roll number and email. The local and full international spellings of the same number both match. The search stays inside your institution, and the whole number has to match.
How it is done today
Searching by name breaks down as soon as three students in a class share one, and putting the wrong student on the register throws off both attendance and fees. Parents almost always remember the mobile number, but without a way to search on it that number is no help and the registers come out again.

Start typing the number
Typing in the number field in the add-student window starts the search, although nothing is sent until at least three digits have been entered.

Either spelling matches
Whether the number is written the local way or with the country code, it is brought to one form before the lookup, so both find the same student.

Inside your institution only
The search covers the members of the institution the classroom belongs to. A number from outside it returns nothing, so other institutions' records stay private.

Enough detail to be sure
Each result carries the name, picture, roll number and email, so two students with the same name can still be told apart before one is added.

A clear answer when nothing matches
If no student account uses that number, the window says so plainly instead of leaving an empty list that could mean anything.

Can you search on part of a name?
No, this search takes a phone number only, and the whole number has to match. Half a number returns nothing. To search on a name instead, the student list page has its own search box.
Does it work for a solo tutor?
A classroom with no institution behind it gets nothing back from this search. That is deliberate, so a phone number cannot be used to look up students right across the platform.
How much does a number reveal?
A result carries the name, picture, roll number and email, which is what it takes to be sure of the right student. Nothing further is shown, and only that classroom's teachers and admins can run the search at all.
