Pull the form back to draft to fix it

A live admission form can be taken back to draft in one step. The public address stops opening straight away, so no new applications arrive. Submissions already in, the stored versions and the form's address are all left alone, and publishing again brings the same link back to life.

How it is done today

The link goes out and only then does somebody notice an extra zero in the fee box, or that a question everyone needs is missing. Fixing it with the form still live means more applications arriving on the wrong terms, and deleting the form to start again would take the earlier applications with it.

How it works

  1. 1

    Choose it from the menu

The editor's menu carries the option to go back to draft, and choosing it brings up a short confirmation before anything changes.

  2. 2

    The link closes immediately

Once the form is a draft, its public address no longer opens, because only a live form is ever served to somebody outside the institution.

  3. 3

    Applications and versions survive

Applications already submitted stay in the list with their state unchanged, and the versions published earlier are not removed either.

  4. 4

    Fix it and publish again

Making the change and publishing again brings the same address back, so printed QR codes and links already shared do not have to be replaced.

What runs on its own, what stays in your hands

What happens automatically

Closing the public address is part of going back to draft. Nothing else has to be switched off by hand.

What you control

When admissions pause is the teacher's decision, and saying no on the confirmation leaves everything exactly as it was.

Frequently asked questions

What happens to applications already submitted?

Nothing. They stay in the applications list exactly as they were, with their state unchanged. The only difference is that nobody new can open the form and submit.

Can a draft form be unpublished again?

No. Only a form currently live can be taken back to draft. Trying it on a form that is already a draft, or one that is closed, reports that the action does not apply.

How is this different from closing the form?

Going back to draft is for fixing something you mean to publish again. Closing is for when admissions are over. Both stop new applications, but they say different things about your intention.
