The notice you must not lose

Any inbox item or conversation can be pinned in one press, and the same button unpins it again. Pinned items have a tab of their own, a pin marker appears on the row in the main list, and an opened item shows a Pinned badge at the top.

How it is done today

The notice with the exam date or the fee deadline is at the top today and twenty notices down by tomorrow. People screenshot it or message themselves to remember, because scrolling back through the list to find it again is not realistic.

How it works

  1. 1

    One button, both ways

The button beside an open notice pins it, and on an item already pinned the same button turns into the one that unpins it.

  2. 2

    Pinned for you

Pinning a conversation pins it in your own list only. Other people in that conversation do not see it as pinned on their side.

  3. 3

    A tab of their own

The inbox's pinned tab carries only the items you have pinned, so the things that matter are gathered in one short list.

  4. 4

Marked in the main list too

A small pin icon sits on the row in the main list, and opening the item shows a Pinned badge above its contents.

Frequently asked questions

Does pinning move it to the top of the list?

No. The main list stays in time order. The marker on the row is how a pinned item is recognised there, and the pinned tab is where they are all gathered.

How many items can be pinned?

We do not claim a particular limit. The more you pin, the longer the pinned tab gets, so unpinning the ones you have dealt with keeps it useful.

Could somebody else pin something in my inbox?

No. A pin checks that the item belongs to you, and for a conversation the pin is written on your own participation record rather than on the conversation itself.
